Accounts and Passwords

Every incoming Wesleyan undergraduate student has four accounts created for them: E-mail, Dragon, Condor, and Woodstock.

E-mail

There are several different mail servers hosting all Wesleyan e-mail accounts. The server that your account is on depends on your class year and your status. For this reason, the easiest way to connect to email is to go to http://yourusername.mail.wesleyan.edu. This will look up what server your account is hosted on and connect you to that server.

All users have a quota of 100 MB. If you exceed your allotted disk usage, your account will become restricted. If you do go over quota, see instructions on how to fix it.

There are several ways to access your Wesleyan e-mail including IMP, Pine, and Eudora. For further help with e-mail you can contact Helpdesk or you can check out the ITS E-mail page. Your e-mail password is referenced by a number of academic and administrative services, including your E-Portfolio.

Dragon

Dragon gives you access to Wesleyan's file and print servers, as well as a network folder to save your files in. This allows you to run Wesleyan-owned software such as specialized science and reference software, and allows you to print to any of the public printers on campus.

All students have a 50 MB quota on Dragon and all faculty and staff have a 200 MB quota.

Condor & Woodstock

Condor and Woodstock are Wesleyan's UNIX academic computing servers. Condor is the home of student and faculty personal webpages. Woodstock is primarily dedicated to numerical applications and programming. Each student has a /home directory with a 20 MB quota that is shared between Condor and Woodstock so you can access your files from both servers. Need help with Unix?

Passwords

To access accounts on the various Wesleyan servers, you will be prompted for a username and password. Your username is initially assigned to you, and is the same for all systems. However, you should change it to something secure that you will remember. You may have different passwords on each system.

A secure password does not contain an entire word, is 6-8 characters, has mixed upper and lower case letters and contains at least one non-alphabetic character. You can change your password through either the IMP or PINE email clients. If you need a password reset you must come into Helpdesk with your WesID card. You may also contact Helpdesk with any questions you have about changing your password.
