Mac OS X Dial-up
Configuring your computer for Wesleyan Dial-up
- Click on the blue apple at the top left of your screen, and go to "System Preferences." Once there, click on the "Network" icon. This will open the Network configuration window.
In the Network configuration window, click on the "Location" picklist . Choose "New Location" to create a new network location. Name the new network location something easily identifiable (such as "Wesleyan Dial-Up). Click "Okay."
A network location is a set of configurations for your network ports (your computer's Ethernet port, modem port, or AirPort Card, for example). If you often change network settings, you may find switching between locations quicker and easier than repeatedly modifying individual configurations.
- In the "Show" picklist, choose your modem (called "Internal Modem" on most Macs).
- Click the "TCP/IP" tab. Choose "Using PPP" from the "Configure" picklist.
- Click the "PPP" tab. Your service provider is "Wesleyan." Your account name is your e-mail username (ex. jschmo, etc..), and your password is your e-mail password. The telephone number, if you are a student, is 685-7488, and 685-7388, if you are a faculty or staff member.
- Go the the "Applications" folder in your Hard drive. Click on the "Internet Connect" icon.
- In the "Internet Connection" screen that appears, make sure the correct configuration ("Internal Modem"), Telephone number, and username appears. Then click "Connect."
