Dragon for Mac OS X

What is Dragon?

Dragon is the Network Attached Storage (NAS) unit that is part of the Wesleyan domain. All students have a Wesleyan domain account which gives you access to 50Mb of storage on this device. This can be a useful place to store files for printing in the labs, or for accessing them from other computers. The default password for Dragon is your six digit date of birth (MMDDYY); your username is the same as your e-mail username (ex. jsmith).

To access your files on Dragon

  1. Click on the Go command at the top of the screen.
  2. From the Go Menu, select Connect to Server....
  3. In the Address box, type afp://dragon.wesleyan.edu.
  4. You will be asked to authenticate: type in your Wesleyan Domain username and password.
  5. You will see a list of all the available volumes. Select the volume you wish to access. The student folders begin with an 's' followed by the class year — s05home, s06home, s07home, etc. Select the folder for your class year.
  6. Once you have mounted the volume, open it and you will see your home folder.

To create an alias on your Mac desktop after mounting your home volume, start by opening the volume. Hold down the control key and click on your own folder. From the menu that appears, click "Make Alias." Drag the new alias to the desktop.
