Using WebMail
Accessing WebMail
WebMail may be accessed through a web browser (internet explorer, safari, etc) from any computer with an internet connection.
Go to the URL http://webmail.wesleyan.edu to log in.
If you are on the Wesleyan domain, you can simply type "webmail" in the address bar and press enter.
Quota management
At the top of your inbox screen in WebMail, there is a link to "Check E-mail Quota". This link will bring you to your electronic portfolio. Afer you have signed in, you can find your disk usage information under the tools menu. Be sure to note which folders contain the most data. (1 MB = 1000 KB)
If you have gone over quota Common emails range in size from 1-10KB, which means that your inbox can contain thousands of these emails without going over quote. However, emails containing large attachments, especially images, can easily reach sizes of 1-5MB. These emails should be downloaded to your local machine and deleted through WebMail. If you are over quota and would like to delete large messages, please be aware that WebMail currently cannot sort by size. However, there is a Beta Webmail in place that will allow you to sort your mail by size and delete large emails.
Spam control
- If you are receiving a lot of spam, Wesleyan provides a spam blocker called SpamAssassin.
- To enable it, click on the "Options" link at the top of your inbox screen.
- Then, click on "Spam Filter Configuration.
- From there, you will be able to set up SpamAssassin to start marking or deleting spam.
- Please note that messages in your spam folder count towards your quota.
- Do not whitelist *.wesleyan.edu. Any person can choose to send e-mail from any address, and spammers are increasingly sending email through .wesleyan addresses to wesleyan community members.
